What Is The Climate Of Lethbridge?
According to the Koppen Climate Classification, Lethbridge has a BSK climate. This refers to it having a dry climate, which is semi-arid, and is cold.
A dry climate (B) is the only one of the five categories in the Koppen Climate Classification that isn’t dependent on temperature. The other four, from warmest to coldest, are tropical (A), temperate (C), continental (D), and polar (E). However, a dry climate, as you would expect from the name, refers to the level of precipitation in millimetres, not reaching a clear threshold. That threshold is (20 X C) + Y. C refers to the average temperature of a city in an average year in Celsius. The (K) refers to a cold climate. Cold cities average less than 18 C (64 F) in an average year. If the average is 18 C (64 F) or higher, the city is graded as (H), meaning hot.
What Is Everyday Weather Like In Lethbridge?
Lethbridge is often called Canada’s ‘windy city’, and has clearly earned its name by being the windiest city in Canada. Compared to other cities in Alberta, like Edmonton or Calgary, Lethbridge has more moderate temperatures, especially in the winter, where although temperatures are usually below freezing, it doesn’t regularly hit temperatures of -15 C (5 F) that those other cities do.
